Finishing Strong

The Semester is at an end but I had to finish off strong. I Did everything I could in class and will continue to do work at home to boost my grade. Overall, I am really happy with this semester especially because of IS 101. I learned many great things that will benefit me in my college career. I am thankful for everything and will definitely miss this class. I wish everyone good luck in whatever the future holds

Academic Pursuit

This semester hasn't been the easiest in comparison to my previous ones but I am glad. With more demanding professors and courses I have learned how to manage my time and deal with personal problems that might come up. Its always sad to move on to new classes and professors but I've gained new experiences that will benefit me in the future. For example, In IS 101 I learned how to properly use Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. As for my academic pursuit I plan on spending 2 more semesters at CSN to achieve my Associate of Business degree. I can't wait to continue my adventure as a college student.

Catching up

This semester is almost at an end and I am trying to catch up. I think that the end of a semester is always the hardest since professors want to assign essays, presentations, and on top of that the final exams. I am not complaining since I am confident in that I could catch up in all my classes. For this class the main things I am focusing on is my A5 do's and don'ts, The PowerPoint projects, and preparing for Bonus Quiz 7. This class  had many assignments but I think that this class is really helpful to get an insight of a high demanding position in a job.

Thanksgiving break

For Thanksgiving this week my family and me only had a small gathering. We ate some turkey, some mango habanero chicken wings, and other delicious foods and drinks.Aside from thanksgiving I also took advantage of the sales and deals online this week to buy presents for my family for Christmas. My dad's birthday is also next week so I bought him some shoes that he's been wanting for awhile. Overall I think my thanksgiving break was great but now I have to continue on the grind in IS 101.

Microsoft Excel Certification

Today I took the Excel certification exam and luckily passed. I was not very confident in my skills so I used the Gmetrix practice exams the day before the real exam and also practiced the different functions. Some of the functions that I would suggest to know before the exam are the Concatenate, if, and upper functions. These are just some to practice but you should be prepared for the unexpected. I hope that my advice is somewhat helpful and you all pass the excel certification exam.

Today's Class

Class today was a little crazy since we had to take the 2 bonus quiz and I had  to present my power point presentation. I also struggled with one of the excel projects but luckily with the help of professor Wu I was able to complete all the projects. Now all I want to do to take the exam is use Gmettrix for the practice Exams. I hope I pass the on the first attempt.

Band Class

When I was in middle school I didn't get the chance to choose my elective so I was put In band class. Little did I know that this class would be one of my favorites. As part of band class we had to pick out an instrument that we wanted to play. I really wanted to pick the trumpet but unfortunately they were limited so I instead went with the trombone. As time went on and I got pretty at playing the trombone I fell in love with the instrument. As a result of being in this class we also got the opportunity to participate in various competitions with one being in Anaheim, California. Sadly, we didn't win but we got to go to Disneyland and an aquarium that I can't recall the name of. After middle school I stopped playing the trombone but I've been searching the internet to possibly buy one and start playing again.

Culinary Arts

In high school I attended a magnet school which offered career specialized courses such as construction engineering, culinary arts, Biomedical sciences, etc. I chose culinary arts and had the opportunity to learn about cooking and baking. Some of my favorite things I learned to make and got to eat were log cake, coxihnas(Brazilian food), and baked mac and cheese with bread crumbs. I took these courses and learned a very good life skill. I also learned about things such as food safety, food costs, customer service, etc. To this day I still use these skills to cook and bake for my family and myself when I get the chance.

Granite and Marble Process

My dad owns a business in Granite and Marble in which I used to work for and have gained some experience on the process. Although most of the materials we work with is granite or marble we also work with other materials such as quartz, quartzite, onyx, etc. The first step in the process is for the customer to choose the material they want and then it is delivered to our shop. The material is usually delivered in slab form and the size varies depending on the material but the average size is about 120x60 inches. We then use a forklift with a clamp to get the slab on the cutting table where it is cut into the measurements of the clients needs. We usually install the material on kitchens, bathrooms, shower walls, and wherever the customer wants it installed.

The Second step after cutting the material into the correct measurements is the fabrication process. This process is too long to explain but in short it is the process in which we make the material look pretty

The last step is of course the installation process. This process is actually the fastest out of all the processes although many customers think it is the longest. The only reason why you should take several days to install is if the job includes installing several counter tops but if it is just a kitchen it shouldn't take more than a day.

MOS Certification Exam

This week I took my certification exam and luckily I passed it on the first try. I was very nervous because I had done so many word projects in such a short time so I wasn't so sure if I would retain all the information. When I passed they gave me a badge that meant that I was certified. After the exam I went to a little restaurant by Decatur and Washington called Komex Fusion Express. Apparently the food was a mixture of ingredients between Korean and Mexican food. My order was taken by the owner who was a Korean man that spoke close to perfect Spanish. At the end of the day I was just relieved that I had passed the certification exam.

Migraine Aura

Almost Everyone has probably experienced a headache or a migraine but there is something worst than that. Around 20 % of people with migraines also experience a more severe phase called the migraine aura. Unfortunately I'm part of that 20 % who experiences this phase. When I first experienced the migraine aura I lost visibility in my left eye, I felt numbness on my left arm and lips, and I couldn't talk or comprehend what others around me were saying. When I went to the hospital the doctors thought that I had brain damage because I wasn't communicating but, luckily it was just one of the symptoms of the migraine aura. I wouldn't even wish a migraine aura on my worst enemy. It's been a month since my last attack but at least now I am informed on what to do to control it next time it occurs.

Jose Jose

remember growing up my mom would always play Jose Jose's music while she cleaned the house. Two Saturdays ago I was told that Jose Jose had passed away at the age of 71. If you're not familiar with Jose Jose he was considered to be the Mexican Frank Sinatra. Although It was shocking to hear of his death I remembered him by all the good memories. He was basically part of my childhood despite him not being there. That same day of his departure I listened to all his hits and remembered all the good times. Rest in Peace Jose Jose.

P.S If you want to listen to him I recommend Jose Jose-El Triste with English Subs.

Club America

If you like sports you probably also have a favorite team. I want to talk about my favorite team Club America who was founded in 1916 by a couple of college students who only created the club for fun. Little did they know that the club would become Mexico's most winning club in history. In 1959 the club was purchased by the Azcaraga family who only make the team better. America has won a total of 13 national league trophies and 7 International trophies.America also has a rivalry with the club Chivas. Their recent game ended in America winning 4-1. If you don't have a favorite soccer team you should consider Club America!

Carnitas

If you are Mexican you're probably familiar with the term "carnitas". Carnitas are basically pieces of pork cooked in a large steel pot which we call "cazo". Since my family is from Michoacan the state in Mexico in which carnitas were originated we eat carnitas at least every two weeks. This week wasn't the exception and we ate some delicious carnitas tacos. If you've never ate carnitas I suggest you do because your'e really missing out.

Hobbies

Some of my favorite things to do outside of school is play soccer, watch anime, and play video games. I used to part of a soccer team but ever since I got into college and got a job there is less time. Even though I have less time I sometimes go to my local park and kick the ball around. When it comes to anime one of my favorites is One Piece even though it has 900+ episodes. One of my favorite video games is FIFA 20, but this week I was thinking of purchasing God of War. Although this game was released about a year ago I still want to get the chance to play it.

4th Week of Class

In today's class I had the opportunity to take my first quiz of IS 10. Sadly, I wasn't able to study but, I am glad that we revised over it. I learned  more of the contents of the syllabus, I learned about the several components in a computer, and I learned the different dangers of the internet. I hope to keep progressing in this class so I don't fall any more behind.

My First Week

The First week in IS 101 was definitely new for me. Overall my experience was good despite sitting for 3 hours plus and my eyes getting tired for staring at the monitor for so long. To fix this I will  try to work more fast and efficient during class. I will also work at home to improve my skills and finish as much work as I can. The first assignment in IS 101 was a bonus quiz which unfortunately I wasn't able to complete. I wasn't able to complete this assignment because some of the questions were confusing and too long. After the first class now I know that the best thing to do if I am confused on an assignment is to contact the instructor or a classmate. I hope that the this class keeps improving so I can successful receive my certifications. I also hope to learn a lot so it could benefit my future career, and life goals.
