Granite and Marble Process

My dad owns a business in Granite and Marble in which I used to work for and have gained some experience on the process. Although most of the materials we work with is granite or marble we also work with other materials such as quartz, quartzite, onyx, etc. The first step in the process is for the customer to choose the material they want and then it is delivered to our shop. The material is usually delivered in slab form and the size varies depending on the material but the average size is about 120x60 inches. We then use a forklift with a clamp to get the slab on the cutting table where it is cut into the measurements of the clients needs. We usually install the material on kitchens, bathrooms, shower walls, and wherever the customer wants it installed.

The Second step after cutting the material into the correct measurements is the fabrication process. This process is too long to explain but in short it is the process in which we make the material look pretty

The last step is of course the installation process. This process is actually the fastest out of all the processes although many customers think it is the longest. The only reason why you should take several days to install is if the job includes installing several counter tops but if it is just a kitchen it shouldn't take more than a day.

MOS Certification Exam

This week I took my certification exam and luckily I passed it on the first try. I was very nervous because I had done so many word projects in such a short time so I wasn't so sure if I would retain all the information. When I passed they gave me a badge that meant that I was certified. After the exam I went to a little restaurant by Decatur and Washington called Komex Fusion Express. Apparently the food was a mixture of ingredients between Korean and Mexican food. My order was taken by the owner who was a Korean man that spoke close to perfect Spanish. At the end of the day I was just relieved that I had passed the certification exam.

Migraine Aura

Almost Everyone has probably experienced a headache or a migraine but there is something worst than that. Around 20 % of people with migraines also experience a more severe phase called the migraine aura. Unfortunately I'm part of that 20 % who experiences this phase. When I first experienced the migraine aura I lost visibility in my left eye, I felt numbness on my left arm and lips, and I couldn't talk or comprehend what others around me were saying. When I went to the hospital the doctors thought that I had brain damage because I wasn't communicating but, luckily it was just one of the symptoms of the migraine aura. I wouldn't even wish a migraine aura on my worst enemy. It's been a month since my last attack but at least now I am informed on what to do to control it next time it occurs.

Jose Jose

remember growing up my mom would always play Jose Jose's music while she cleaned the house. Two Saturdays ago I was told that Jose Jose had passed away at the age of 71. If you're not familiar with Jose Jose he was considered to be the Mexican Frank Sinatra. Although It was shocking to hear of his death I remembered him by all the good memories. He was basically part of my childhood despite him not being there. That same day of his departure I listened to all his hits and remembered all the good times. Rest in Peace Jose Jose.

P.S If you want to listen to him I recommend Jose Jose-El Triste with English Subs.

Club America

If you like sports you probably also have a favorite team. I want to talk about my favorite team Club America who was founded in 1916 by a couple of college students who only created the club for fun. Little did they know that the club would become Mexico's most winning club in history. In 1959 the club was purchased by the Azcaraga family who only make the team better. America has won a total of 13 national league trophies and 7 International trophies.America also has a rivalry with the club Chivas. Their recent game ended in America winning 4-1. If you don't have a favorite soccer team you should consider Club America!

Carnitas

If you are Mexican you're probably familiar with the term "carnitas". Carnitas are basically pieces of pork cooked in a large steel pot which we call "cazo". Since my family is from Michoacan the state in Mexico in which carnitas were originated we eat carnitas at least every two weeks. This week wasn't the exception and we ate some delicious carnitas tacos. If you've never ate carnitas I suggest you do because your'e really missing out.
